Built on a mission.
Spex was founded in 2026 by Dr. Anna Krause. She built it on her mission to be the provider she is constantly in search of for her own care; kind, compassionate, empathetic, engaged caregiving. Have you ever left an appointment feeling rushed or confused? Modern medical culture has migrated away from person centric care to checking boxes and treating symptoms. Anna’s passion for preventative care, meaningful connections, and quality eyewear are at the heart of Spex. You’ll feel the refreshing energy from the very first interaction with the team, whether over the phone or in person. Dr. Anna brings over a decade of experience and elevates the standard of care through a focus on prevention rather than reaction. She can’t wait to bring that passion home to the Marquette community.
Whether you wear glasses or not, your eyes tell a story far beyond vision.
Dr. Anna’s favorite eye-fact to share is that the eyes are the only place in the body where we can directly observe blood vessels. Our vasculature paints a picture of our overall metabolic health, not just local to the eyes. Dr. Anna is on a mission to empower you to take control of your health, ocular and systemic, before your health controls you.
Perhaps what Dr. Anna is most passionate about sharing with Marquette is access to quality, hand-crafted eyewear. Spex stocks only independently owned eyewear brands that align with our vision. Companies that started out small, just like Spex, and support families like ours. Your glasses are an extension of who you are and should give you the opportunity to express yourself.
